Ambius Helping to Breathe New Life Into An Ancient Landform
![]() |
It is not often that a company can have such a direct association with the causes it supports but Ambius has done just that through its involvement with the Motutapu Restoration Trust.
Motutapu, or 'Sacred Island', is experiencing an exciting, large scale and long term transformation, with the assistance of volunteers and corporate supporters.
The island is only 30-40 minutes by ferry from downtown Auckland and is linked by causeway to Rangitoto Island in the Hauraki Gulf Marine Park.
Ambius is proud to be supporting the Motutapu Restoration Trust to help restore the natural and cultural landscapes of this beautiful island - "breathing new life into an ancient landform".
The Trust does all this restoration work with the help of dedicated volunteers who are restoring the natural landscape - the native forest, similar to that which existed on Motutapu after neighbouring Rangitoto erupted out of the sea around 600 years ago. The cultural landscape, handed down by Maori, early settlers and WWII Military residents is also being protected, maintained and interpreted.
With the restoration of the island's natural heritage, Motutapu is poised to become a wonderful wildlife sanctuary, New Zealand's largest island conservation park.
“We are proud to be supporting the good work of the Motutapu Restoration Trust, particularly in helping to revegetate the natural landscape of this island. Ambius is giving money that will go directly to the island’s Nursery Project, helping to grow plants that will be used for restoration work” says Ambius Regional Director for the Asia Pacific Region, Ray Borg.
“As well as financial support, our staff will participate in volunteer days on the island and we encourage other companies in New Zealand to do the same,” says Ray Borg.
